Although there are many attractive, intelligent and sophisticated Russian women looking for Western male partners, some of them have a reputation for being capricious, opportunistic and materialistic − and not particularly loyal if they find a better "catch." Relaxing in Asia among these wonderful, easy-going women is the best antidote that I know of to Western-induced stress. Imagine enjoying an idyllic, tropical island-hopping vacation with a beautiful, exotic local girl in a bikini to guide you and be your lover. This would be impossible in Russia, or in South America unless you speak Spanish or Portuguese. Where would you rather spend your vacations or buy a second home – on a tropical island in Southeast Asia or in frozen Siberia or high-crime South America? These are just some points to consider when deciding where to look for a long-term partner overseas.

Dating or marrying an Asian woman could open up the dream possibility for many Western men of moving or retiring to a tropical island paradise in Thailand, the Philippines or Indonesia, where the cost of living is low and the living is easy. If you are British, for example, a number of surveys have consistently found that over half of all British people want to live abroad. They cite various factors: year-round rain and grey skies, soaring violent crime, job-related stress, punishing petrol/gasoline prices, long working hours, crumbling educational standards, the crisis in the National Health Service, regular strikes by national airline staff, airport baggage handlers and railway, postal and "tube" (subway) workers that inconvenience millions, and escalating house prices that now border on the absurd. If you sold your overpriced, average UK home and moved to Southeast Asia, you could afford to build your own villa with a swimming pool and have a full-time cook, gardener and cleaner – not to mention a young, cute, live-in girlfriend(s) to keep you company! Consider also that Asia is service-minded, with many businesses open 7 days a week and until midnight or later. No more shops and businesses that close for lunch and at 5 pm, or trying to find a restaurant that's open after 10 pm! The food in Asia is also much healthier and less fattening than what you're probably eating in the West, and could make you less prone to obesity and heart disease.

Moving or spending time overseas gives you a chance to reinvent your lifestyle and yourself. With many parts of Spain and the Mediterranean now looking like permanent construction sites and expatriate colonies, with ever-escalating prices, the largely unspoiled coastline and tropical islands of Southeast Asia (except Pattaya and Phuket) and their proximity to modern, dynamic and exciting capitals such as Bangkok, Singapore, Saigon, Manila and Jakarta are increasingly attractive places to retire or to buy a second home. Indeed, many property brokers that originally focused on the now saturated Spanish and Mediterranean "overseas home" markets are now eyeing Thailand.
